A caretaker at Santa Fe Summit, the community where Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa lived, made a 911 call reporting that he had found what appeared to be the bodies of the couple inside their home. The maintenance worker urgently requested for first responders to be sent to the scene as he was unable to access the locked house. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the discovery of Gene Hackman, Betsy Arakawa, and one of their dogs deceased during a welfare check. While there were no obvious signs of foul play, authorities are conducting an investigation and awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. The deaths were deemed suspicious, prompting a thorough search of the premises. Initial assessments suggest that the couple had been deceased for some time. The exact circumstances surrounding their passing remain unclear.
