A 33-year-old man was fatally stabbed late Sunday near his home in Queens, as his mother discovered him bleeding, according to police and law enforcement sources.
Authorities reported that Jose Scott was repeatedly stabbed across his body in front of an auto repair shop on Merrick Boulevard near 221st Street in Laurelton. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m., just under 60 feet from his residence.
Sources indicated that Scott’s mother made the grim discovery of her son’s bloodied body on the sidewalk and immediately alerted the police.
Scott was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to police.
The motive behind the killing remains unclear at this time.
Investigators were analyzing photos and working to identify a suspect by Monday afternoon, sources added.
The deadly stabbing took place within the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 116th Precinct, where four murders have been reported so far this year.
The 116th Precinct station house, inaugurated in December 2024, represents the first completely new NYPD command established in over a decade.
No murders were recorded in the precinct during 2025, as per department data. However, overall felony crime has decreased by approximately 12 percent this year within the precinct’s boundaries, statistics indicate.
