A man, covered in blood, staggered into a police station in Brooklyn early Monday morning and confessed to believing he had killed his friend during a heated argument, according to law enforcement sources and reports.
The 58-year-old suspect, who has an extensive criminal record with 16 prior arrests, arrived at the 77th Precinct in Crown Heights shortly after 3:00 a.m., with his hands drenched in blood, as stated by police.
The suspect appeared to have several scratches on his body as well.
He informed officers that he might have killed his friend during a confrontation and directed them to 207 Troy Ave., where authorities discovered the victim, aged 56, lying face up with multiple stab wounds on his chest and arms.
At the crime scene, police noted a pair of bloody footprints along with a bloodied kitchen knife and scissors.
The victim was pronounced dead at 3:27 a.m., and his identity is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.
Authorities have taken the suspect into custody, with charges pending against him, according to sources.
Additional information reveals that the suspect knocked on the door of the apartment on Troy Avenue, which the victim opened shortly before the fatal encounter, although it’s unclear whether the victim resided there.
