A recent crime spree in Chicago has led to the arrest of Brian Pride, a 20-year-old man accused of being part of a robbery and burglary crew that targeted multiple businesses in the city. The incidents took place on January 3 in several neighborhoods including Lakeview, Lincoln Park, and West Town, prompting a CPD community alert.

According to prosecutors, Pride faces three counts of armed robbery and two counts of burglary in connection with the crimes. Chicago police detectives were able to track a stolen vehicle used by Pride and his accomplices between the different crime scenes using city surveillance cameras.

The crime spree began at 4:58 a.m. in the parking lot of a Burger King on West Chicago Avenue, where Pride allegedly robbed a female employee, taking her wallet and AirPods. He was later identified by the victim in a photo lineup. At 5:46 a.m., the crew targeted a Dunkin Donuts on North Ashland Avenue, where an accomplice held a gun on an employee while Pride stole cash and cakes from behind the counter.

Prosecutors state that Pride and his accomplice used a hammer to break into a 7-Eleven on North Lincoln Avenue at 5:52 a.m. and a Circle K on North Broadway at 6:02 a.m., stealing money and tobacco products. Employees at both locations managed to flee during the break-ins.

Pride was recognized by a Chicago police officer from surveillance images, leading to his arrest. Judge Deidre Dyer has ordered him to be detained pending trial. Court records show that Pride previously received a four-year sentence in 2024 for carjacking.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with law enforcement in combating crime. It is crucial for businesses and individuals to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities promptly.
