Guerrero Arrested

A man from Chicago has been charged with multiple counts following an alleged act of sexual misconduct at a CTA station.

Angelo Guerrero, a 42-year-old, is facing charges including two counts of criminal sexual abuse and two counts of aggravated battery after incidents reported on June 16 at the Washington-Wabash CTA station located at 29 North Wabash.

Prosecutors have stated that surveillance footage revealed Guerrero getting close to a woman on the platform and inappropriately touching her before leaving the scene. Coincidentally, another woman at the same station also reported a similar encounter with a man.

Upon investigation, authorities traced Guerrero through his Ventra card, which he had used during the alleged offenses. He was subsequently identified by both victims when his picture was presented in a photo lineup. Upon arrest, Guerrero was reportedly wearing the same clothes as seen in the footage.

During a recent court hearing, Judge Ankur Srivastava agreed with the prosecution’s motion to detain Guerrero as he awaits trial.

Historical records reveal that Guerrero has not faced charges in the local court system since 2015, though he has previous convictions including a three-year prison sentence for illegal gun possession in 2003. In a different incident in 2001, he faced attempted murder charges, but he pleaded guilty to aggravated battery instead and participated in the Cook County sheriff’s boot camp program.
