Man Found Guilty of Murder Outside Coors Field

A Denver jury has convicted Javon Price, 25, of first-degree murder and second-degree assault for a shooting incident outside Coors Field in 2021. The tragic event resulted in the death of one individual and the injury of another.

According to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office, Price faces a potential sentence of life imprisonment without parole.

DA John Walsh expressed, “This case highlights the devastating consequences of resorting to violence to resolve disputes. Javon Price will face the consequences of his actions, as justice demands.”

Price, who was a concession worker at the ballpark, left his shift early on August 6, 2021, only to return later that same evening. Amidst a crowd of Rockies fans leaving the venue, Price fatally shot Gregory Hopkins, 41, who was also an employee, and injured a bystander.

Another individual initially charged in connection with the incident, Rayvell Powell, had his charges dropped but was recently recharged with murder. Treneil McNeal, who provided Price with the handgun used in the crime, was convicted of second-degree murder and received a 40-year prison sentence in 2023.

Price’s sentencing is scheduled for July 2.
