Man found hiding near scene of Commerce City shooting charged with murder

A suspect, Fabian Benitez, 30, has been formally charged with first-degree murder in connection to a fatal shooting in Commerce City. The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced the charges following the discovery of Benitez hiding near the crime scene at East 62nd Avenue and Jasmine Court. The victim was found shot to death inside a car early Sunday morning.

Benitez is currently in custody at the Adams County Detention Facility and is set to appear in court on Friday morning.
