A man who was on parole for attempted murder is once again behind bars after allegedly committing an armed robbery at a pizza shop on the Far South Side of Chicago. Tyrone Anderson, 29, was charged with armed robbery following the incident at a restaurant in Hegewisch.
According to prosecutors, Anderson and another individual entered the restaurant on July 13th wearing ski masks. Anderson brandished a gun and demanded money from an employee, who complied by handing over cash from the register. The pair then fled the scene in a waiting SUV.
Surveillance footage captured parts of the robbery, and the license plate of the getaway vehicle was clearly visible. Chicago police used license plate readers to track the SUV, leading Illinois State Police to intercept the vehicle on the Dan Ryan Expressway. Both Anderson and the driver were taken into custody, with a ski mask found in the squad car where Anderson had been sitting.
Despite evidence linking him to the crime, Anderson denied involvement and claimed his friend had picked him up after the robbery. However, the employee positively identified Anderson as the perpetrator based on visible features through the ski mask.
Judge Rivanda Doss Beal ordered Anderson to be detained, and the Illinois Department of Corrections revoked his parole, sending him back to prison. Anderson had been serving a 15-year sentence for a 2011 shooting before being paroled in October of the previous year. His next parole date is now set for October 7, 2027.
This incident serves as a reminder of the consequences of criminal behavior and the importance of upholding the law. It also highlights the diligent work of law enforcement in apprehending suspects and bringing them to justice.
