Chicago Man Charged with Robbing Woman on CTA Just 11 Days After Previous Robbery
A Chicago man, Isaiah Turner, has been charged with robbing a woman on the CTA, mere days after receiving probation for robbing two other individuals outside a CTA station.
Turner’s criminal history includes a robbery arrest in February while he was still a juvenile, according to prosecutors. Additionally, on St. Patrickâs Day, Turner and two juveniles were arrested for allegedly implying they had a gun and demanding property from a man and woman outside the Austin Blue Line station in Oak Park.
Despite resolving the St. Patrick’s Day case by pleading guilty to aggravated robbery on August 27 and receiving two years of probation, Turner found himself in trouble again on September 7. On that evening, he reportedly robbed a 24-year-old woman on a Blue Line train near the Western station on the Near West Side. Turner allegedly hit the woman in the face and implied he had a gun, prompting the victim to hand over her purse, phone, and AirPods.
Thanks to a CTA surveillance camera operator providing descriptions of the suspects, the police were able to apprehend Turner in the neighborhood. He was dressed entirely in black and wearing a black ski mask at the time of his arrest. AirPods found in his possession identified themselves as âLisaâs AirPods Pro,â matching the victim’s first name, Lisa.
Furthermore, Judge Rivera noted in a detention order that Turner is also on juvenile probation for aggravated battery, though it remains unclear if this is related to the February robbery case.
