A terrifying incident occurred in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood early Saturday morning when a 23-year-old man was shot while sitting in his pickup truck. The victim, parked in the 1000 block of North Hoyne Avenue around 4:41 a.m., was targeted by someone in a passing black Nissan sedan who opened fire. A bullet pierced the passenger side of the truck, traveled through the seat, and struck the man in his lower right back.

Despite his injury, the brave victim managed to exit the truck and seek help by knocking on a nearby resident’s door. Emergency responders swiftly arrived on the scene and transported him to Stroger Hospital, where he is currently listed in good condition.

According to the victim’s account to the police, the shooter was identified as a woman who fled the scene in the Nissan sedan, driving east on Division Street. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

This alarming incident serves as a stark reminder of the prevalent gun violence in the city and the need for increased efforts to ensure the safety of all residents. The community is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
