Industry insiders are rallying for Oscar consideration for the documentary “We Will Dance Again,” which delves into the tragic events that unfolded at Israel’s Nova International Music Festival on October 7, 2023.

Notable figures like producer Marc Platt, actor Sean Penn, music mogul Scooter Braun, and former HBO and MTV documentary chief Sheila Nevins are throwing their support behind the film. Produced by Sipur, Bitachon 365, MGM Television, HSCC, and Susan Zirinsky’s See It Now Studios in collaboration with BBC Storyville, “We Will Dance Again” has been broadcasted on the BBC Storyville platform in the U.K. and Hot Channel 8 in Israel. The 90-minute documentary, directed by Yariv Mozer and produced by Michal Weits, is available for viewing in the U.S. on Paramount+.

Platt, Braun, and other supporters are hosting an exclusive screening of the documentary at the Paramount Pictures lot, followed by a panel discussion with a survivor of the terrorist attack that sparked the Gaza war. The attack claimed the lives of over 360 people and left many others injured when terrorists opened fire on the outdoor festival held in Re’im, southern Israel.

Penn, known for producing the 2023 documentary “Superpower” about the war in Ukraine, has also spoken out in favor of “We Will Dance Again.” He described the film as a must-see, combining heartbreak and revelation in a compelling narrative.

Nevins highlighted the power of documentaries like “We Will Dance Again” in capturing significant world events and aiding in the healing process for those affected by trauma. She commended the film for its ability to rise above the inhumanity of the Hamas attack and convey a message of resilience.

“We Will Dance Again” pieces together the harrowing attack using footage from various sources, including disturbing material released online by Hamas terrorists. The subsequent Gaza war has led to a global humanitarian crisis, with thousands of Palestinian casualties and Israeli fatalities. The film also sheds light on the 251 hostages taken by Hamas, with 63 individuals still held captive.

Zirinsky, a veteran CBS News producer and former president, emphasized the documentary’s focus on the young adults whose lives were forever altered by the tragedy. She stressed the apolitical nature of the film and the authenticity of the survivors’ stories, offering viewers a firsthand account of the events that transpired.

Executive producers on “We Will Dance Again” include names like Emilio Schenker, Michael Peter Schmidt, Ariel Weisbrod, Orly Arbell, Gideon Tadmor, Sheldon Lazarus, Ben Winston, Leo Pearlman, Ben Turner, Gabe Turner, Dari Shay, Rinat Klein, Haim Slutsky, Dorit Hessel, Lucie Kon, Arturo Interian, Terence Wrong, and others. These individuals have come together to bring this poignant and impactful documentary to audiences worldwide.
