Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) responded to President Donald Trump’s comments about Republicans supporting the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein in a “CBS Mornings” interview. Greene emphasized her concern for the victims who have been waiting for justice for years. She mentioned talking to victims who were raped by Epstein in the ’90s and highlighted the importance of transparency for the American people.

Despite Trump calling Republicans who supported the release of documents “very bad,” Greene stood by her decision to support the discharge petition. She reiterated that the American people deserve transparency and that powerful individuals should not be protected. Greene stressed that her stance sends a message to all children, rape victims, and human trafficking survivors that the government stands with them.

During the interview, Greene addressed Trump’s opposition to transparency, noting that even The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board questioned his motives. When asked if Trump has something to hide, Greene shared that the victims she spoke with confirmed his innocence. She referenced Virginia Giuffre’s statements and book, where she indicated that Trump did not wrong her.

The article also mentioned Epstein’s email from 2011, which raised questions about Trump’s involvement. Greene acknowledged that Epstein’s death prevented further clarification on the matter. Despite the speculations, Greene maintained her belief in Trump’s innocence based on the testimonies of the victims.

Giuffre’s family’s plea to Trump not to pardon Maxwell was also highlighted in the article. Trump’s reported comments to New York Magazine in 2002 about Epstein offering him photos of young girls further added to the scrutiny surrounding his relationship with Epstein.

Overall, Greene’s unwavering support for transparency and justice in the Epstein case, along with her defense of Trump’s innocence based on victim testimonies, were key points in the article.
