TMZ Sports reported on Saturday that Sanchez, a commentator for FOX Sports, was hospitalized following a stabbing incident in downtown Indianapolis shortly after midnight.
In a surprising turn, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police subsequently detained Sanchez later on Saturday, claiming he was the instigator despite his serious injuries.
Sanchez was in Indianapolis to commentate on the Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium and faces charges of three misdemeanors, including battery with injury, unlawful entry into a vehicle, and being publicly intoxicated.
A press conference is scheduled for today at 8 AM PT, where authorities will share further developments regarding the case.
