Martin Short
Doesn’t Attend Actors Awards After Daughter’s Death
Published
Martin Short had a difficult last week and decided it was best if he didn’t attend the Actors Awards Sunday.
The veteran actor was up for the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, an award he won last year, for “Only Murders in the Building.” However, he was the only one of the five nominees not present at the ceremony in Los Angeles.
Seth Rogen ended up taking the trophy, but it is evident that Martin skipped the ceremony because his daughter, Katherine, passed away last week.
We reported that Short’s daughter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to law enforcement sources. She had previously disclosed her struggles with mental health issues.
A close friend described Katherine as a “beautiful empathetic soul,” noting that there were no visible signs of her inner turmoil.

Katherine was discovered behind a locked door, with a note found at the scene.
Short had several comedy shows scheduled for the weekend, but he postponed them shortly after Katherine’s tragic death.
Katherine was 42 years old.
