A tragic incident unfolded in a quiet Maryland community when a married couple, William “Charlie” Hayes, 56, and Jeanna Hayes, 54, were found murdered in their home in Pasadena. The couple, who owned a home improvement construction business, was shot inside their residence in the Long Point neighborhood, located just outside of Baltimore.

The chilling details of the incident emerged through a 911 call made from the couple’s home. In the call, the female victim can be heard pleading for her life as she identified the perpetrator as “Tony” and begged him not to shoot her. Subsequently, gunshots erupted during a heated argument over money between “Charlie” and the assailant, leading to the tragic demise of the couple.

The suspect was quickly identified as Anthony Louis Reyes, 61, a business associate and friend of the victims. Reyes was apprehended by authorities after a dramatic police chase, during which he allegedly fled from a traffic stop and engaged in a struggle with an officer. Ultimately, Reyes was arrested and charged with first- and second-degree murder, along with other related offenses. He is currently being held without bond.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the targeted attack, but it is believed to be a premeditated act. The couple’s adult granddaughter, who lived with them, was fortunately not present during the shooting. The tragic event has left the family and the community in shock, with neighbors expressing disbelief and sorrow over the brutal incident.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department is actively investigating the case, utilizing the 911 call as a crucial piece of evidence to unravel the details of the crime. The close-knit community of Long Point has been deeply affected by the double murder, with residents coming together to support the grieving family members and make sense of the senseless tragedy.

Police Chief Amal Awad described the incident as “terribly horrific,” especially occurring right before the holiday season. The Long Point community, known for its peaceful waterfront homes and family houses, is now grappling with the aftermath of the shocking event. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to provide closure and justice for the victims and their loved ones.
