On May 24, 1883, the iconic Brooklyn Bridge in New York, then the world’s longest suspension bridge, opened for traffic.

In 1844, Samuel F.B. Morse sent the message “What hath God wrought” from Washington to Baltimore, inaugurating America’s first telegraph line.

In 1935, the first Major League Baseball night game was played at Cincinnati’s Crosley Field, with the Reds defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1.

In 1937, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed the constitutionality of the Social Security Act of 1935 in two separate rulings.

In 2022, a tragic incident unfolded at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, where an 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Ramos, killed 19 children and two teachers before being neutralized. It marked the deadliest shooting at a U.S. elementary school since the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School attack.
