The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) players Mayank Yadav, Akash Deep, and Shivam Mavi recently visited Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir to offer prayers ahead of their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The two teams are scheduled to face off in the 59th game of the season on Friday, May 9, at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
In a heartwarming gesture, Akash Deep took to Instagram on Tuesday, May 6, to share a post featuring his teammates Mayank Yadav and Shivam Mavi as they sought blessings at the revered Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. The trio was seen immersed in prayer with the caption, “Hail Lord Ram.”
LSG’s most recent match was against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 54th game of the season at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. After being asked to bat first, PBKS posted a challenging total of 236/5, with Prabhsimran Singh leading the charge with a brilliant knock of 91 off 48 balls. In response, Ayush Badoni’s impressive 74 off 40 balls was not enough as LSG finished at 199/7 in their 20 overs, falling short by 37 runs and marking their sixth defeat of the season. The team, led by Rishabh Pant, currently occupies the seventh spot on the points table with 10 points from 11 games.
It is worth noting that LSG emerged victorious in their previous encounter with RCB during IPL 2024. The two teams have faced each other five times in IPL history, with RCB holding a slight edge by winning three of those matches. In their last meeting in IPL 2024, LSG posted a total of 181/5, thanks to a stellar performance by Quinton de Kock who scored 81 off 56 balls. The bowlers then stepped up, with Mayank Yadav leading the charge with figures of 3/14 from four overs as RCB was bowled out for just 153, resulting in a 28-run victory for LSG.
