The liberal media landscape is experiencing a seismic shift, and the New York Times is no exception. Following in the footsteps of CNN and MSNBC—both of which have seen steep declines in their already limited viewership—the Times is now faced with a critical juncture. The Washington Post is also re-evaluating its approach as audiences have grown disenchanted with its offerings. The once-esteemed “Gray Lady” is now asking members of its editorial board to either adapt to new roles or take buyout packages and exit stage left.

Over the past eight years, a significant portion of American media has sacrificed its credibility in a fervent quest to undermine Trump. This relentless pursuit has resulted in numerous fabrications and conspiracy theories, and now, as the adage goes, the chickens are coming home to roost.

According to a report from the New York Post:

NY Times tells editorial board writers: Accept new position or take buyout

The New York Times is undergoing a restructuring of its opinion section, which includes a reduction in the frequency of editorials and a streamlined roster of editorial board members, as reported. The Times has offered several editorial board members the opportunity to transition to new roles within the opinion section, or to accept buyout packages if they prefer to depart.

Among those affected are Mara Gay, Brent Staples, Jesse Wegman, and Farah Stockman, as reported by Semafor on Monday. The prevailing thought is that by publishing fewer but higher-quality editorials, the Times aims to capture greater audience attention.

Additionally, the Times is contemplating revisions to its endorsement policy, including the potential to support candidates in various races across the nation, according to Semafor.

Mara Gay, one of the editorial board members mentioned, is known for her rather unique take on economics—most notably, her suggestion that Michael Bloomberg could have distributed his $500 million campaign fund to every American, as if the population were merely a quaint 500 individuals.

Perhaps the New York Times editorial board will find itself in a better place without such illuminating insights.
