In a recent statement, Rep. Haley Stevens (D-Mich.) criticized RFK Jr., stating, “He’s making our nation less secure and driving up healthcare costs and accessibility for residents of Michigan.” She accused him of a “shocking disregard for science” and of frequently propagating conspiracy theories that undermine the extensive research conducted by leading American doctors and scientists. She deemed his actions “unprecedented, reckless, and harmful.”
“We’ve had enough—leaders who prioritize science over chaos, facts over misinformation, and people over politics are essential. Therefore, I’ve started the process of drafting articles of impeachment against Secretary Kennedy,” added Stevens.
The impeachment articles she plans to introduce will address several critical issues, including HHS Secretary Kennedy’s funding cuts for medical research, which she labeled an “abandonment of responsibility,” along with his “failure to fulfill mandatory duties” associated with the FDA and CDC.
Stevens highlighted that Kennedy had dismissed every member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s vaccine advisory panel and expressed concerns about his politicization of the FDA.
The forthcoming articles will also critique Kennedy’s vaccine policies, which Stevens believes are restrictively limiting access to vaccines and propagating dangerous conspiracies that jeopardize lives and inflate healthcare expenses.
Additionally, Stevens referred to Kennedy’s withdrawal of federal recommendations for COVID-19 vaccines for pregnant women and healthy children, as well as his cancellation of mRNA vaccine research.
She criticized RFK Jr.’s “wild and unfounded claims” made recently in the White House, linking acetaminophen to autism, as part of a campaign to limit access to the medication.
Moreover, Stevens accused RFK Jr. of being dishonest in his confirmation hearing by assuring Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chairman Bill Cassidy (R-La.) that he would maintain the CDC’s vaccine advisory panel without changes.
“Secretary Kennedy has broken his oath of office and shown himself unfit to serve the American populace,” Stevens stated. “It is crucial that Congress holds him accountable, and I will spearhead the movement to remove him from office.”
