Mickey Rourke, the former Hollywood heartthrob, is facing a challenging start to the New Year, with sources revealing to RadarOnline.com that he is on the brink of eviction from his Los Angeles rental property. The 73-year-old actor is reportedly facing eviction after allegedly failing to pay nearly $60,000 in rent for the Beverly Grove home he has been living in since March.
Court documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court show that Rourke was served with a three-day notice on December 18, demanding payment of $59,100 or that he vacate the property. The landlord, Eric T. Goldie, claims that Rourke was not present when the notice was served, leading to it being posted outside the house. Rourke signed the lease for the three-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom property at $5,200 a month, which later increased to $7,000 from his second month of occupancy. The house, built in 1926, has a rich history and is located near the Grove and the Farmers Market, just south of West Hollywood.
A source close to Rourke’s situation expressed concerns about his financial stability, stating, “Mickey is in a very precarious position. The cash has dried up, the work has slowed, and his options are dwindling.” Another insider mentioned that Rourke’s best chance of getting out of this situation is if a prominent Hollywood figure who admired him during his prime years steps in to secure him a new home, similar to how Jack Nicholson helped producer Robert Evans. Without this kind of intervention, the outlook for Rourke appears grim.
Rourke’s housing crisis comes in the wake of a series of personal and professional setbacks. Earlier this year, he was removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house due to what producers deemed as “unacceptable” behavior and language towards fellow contestant JoJo Siwa. Rourke’s comments about Siwa’s sexuality and offensive gestures sparked controversy and accusations of homophobia from viewers.
Once a leading man in Hollywood, starring in hit films like Diner, Rumble Fish, 9 1/2 Weeks, and Angel Heart, Rourke’s career took a downturn in the 1990s, leading him to pursue professional boxing. The injuries he sustained from boxing required reconstructive surgery and altered his appearance, ultimately impacting his career as a romantic lead. Despite a comeback with The Wrestler in 2008, which earned him critical acclaim and award nominations, Rourke’s subsequent projects have been mostly low-budget and overlooked.
As Rourke faces eviction and deals with his dwindling finances, sources indicate that he is feeling increasingly isolated. Friends are hoping that someone influential will remember his past success and provide the financial assistance he needs before it’s too late for the once-beloved actor.
