Argentine filmmaker Luciana Piantanida is set to present her latest film, “All the Strength” (“Todas las fuerzas”), at Ventana Sur’s Copia Final. The movie, which marks Piantanida’s second directorial effort after the acclaimed “Los Ausentes,” follows the story of Marlene, a migrant caregiver who embarks on a nocturnal investigation after her friend goes missing.
Starring Bolivian newcomer Celia Santos alongside Argentine actresses Silvina Sabater and Andrea Garrote, the film delves into themes of supernatural powers and female solidarity. Piantanida describes “All the Strength” as a blend of crime and fantasy genres, focusing on marginalized characters and social issues from a human perspective.
The project, shot in Buenos Aires in 2022, received support from Peru’s La Dupla and Maretazo Cine, with Daniel Vega serving as executive producer. Despite facing challenges in the current political climate, Piantanida remains committed to telling stories that resonate with audiences and shed light on important societal issues.
Ventana Sur’s upcoming edition in Montevideo, Uruguay, will provide a platform for Piantanida to showcase her film and connect with industry professionals for sales, distribution, and festival opportunities. The event, supported by Cannes’ Marché du Film and various national film agencies, highlights the importance of international collaboration in the film industry.
As Piantanida navigates the changing landscape of filmmaking in Argentina, her dedication to creating meaningful and impactful cinema remains unwavering. “All the Strength” promises to be a thought-provoking and visually stunning addition to her body of work, showcasing her talent as a storyteller and filmmaker.
