The case of the missing Texas teen, Camila “Cami” Mendoza Olmos, has taken a concerning turn as authorities fear she may be in imminent danger. The 19-year-old disappeared from her San Antonio home early Christmas Eve, wearing pajama shorts and a hoodie.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar has stated that the search for Olmos is ongoing, with deputies and volunteers working around the clock. The investigation has not ruled out the possibility of the case leading outside the United States, as authorities are exploring all possible scenarios, including kidnapping, human trafficking, or the chance that she left on her own accord.

Olmos had recently gone through a breakup, but it was described as mutual, and investigators do not suspect any foul play. Those close to her are cooperating with the investigation, and it has been confirmed that Olmos is a US citizen and was not detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Surveillance footage captured Olmos outside her home, rummaging through her car before the video abruptly ended. She never returned home and was believed to have left on foot with only her car keys and possibly her driver’s license. Her mother, Rosario, became worried when she couldn’t find her daughter, especially since Olmos typically went for an early-morning walk.

Authorities are concerned as Olmos, who leads an active lifestyle, left her phone behind with a dead battery, which is highly unusual behavior for her. The search effort has been ramped up, with federal agencies like the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security assisting in monitoring border crossings and international travel.

Olmos’ childhood best friend, Camila Estrella, described her as someone full of love and stated that they had plans to go dress shopping together. The sudden disappearance has left those close to her shocked and worried.

Anyone with information on Olmos’ whereabouts is urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office at (210) 335-6000 or email the BCSO Missing Persons Unit at missingpersons@bexar.org. The community is coming together to help bring Camila “Cami” Mendoza Olmos back home safely.
