A tragic incident unfolded in Mississippi as a man was fatally engulfed by hot asphalt after a malfunction with his truck caused the smoldering pavement to bury him alive. Darrell Sheriff, 41, was working on a hydraulic line under a truck when the tailgate unexpectedly released the scorching asphalt on top of him.

Upon responding to the scene at 10:30 a.m., the Jackson Police Department found Sheriff trapped under the burning asphalt, unable to survive the catastrophic injuries inflicted upon him. Chief Joseph Wade described the situation as horrific and devastating.

Despite efforts by individuals at the scene to assist Sheriff, the severity of his injuries proved fatal. The police department is currently conducting a thorough investigation but has preliminarily classified the incident as an accident resulting from a malfunction in the dump truck.

Family members present during the tragedy were traumatized by the loss of their loved one, a hard-working family man who was simply trying to make a living. As the holidays approach, the community is rallying to support and uplift the grieving family members through prayer and solidarity.
