Mitchell Johnson’s latest exhibition of paintings showcasing Parisian views and architecture is currently on display at Flea Street in Menlo Park, California until August 26, 2025. Johnson, who has been painting in France since his days as a graduate student at Parsons School of Design in New York City in 1989, recently concluded a successful museum retrospective at MusĂ©e Villa Les CamĂ©lias in Cap D’Ail, France. This retrospective inspired Johnson to embark on a new series focused on capturing the essence of Paris through his artwork.

In a recent interview, Johnson shared his experience of renting an apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris on Rue de Nice. The apartment offered breathtaking views of Parisian rooftops, chimney pots, a park, and contemporary architecture, all of which served as inspiration for his paintings. The unique play of light on the building facade outside his kitchen window influenced his color choices and artistic direction. Johnson’s daily walks around Paris, from the Seine to the Luxembourg and back through the Marais, exposed him to new perspectives and hidden gems that he translated onto canvas.

His newfound intimacy with Paris opened doors to new color possibilities in his work, leading to a transformative year of artistic exploration. Johnson’s paintings, which are part of the permanent collections of over 35 museums, have been featured in prestigious publications like The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, and WSJ Magazine. Additionally, his artwork has made appearances in popular films such as The Holiday, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and It’s Complicated.

Upcoming for Johnson is an exhibition titled Twenty Years in Truro at the Truro Center for the Arts in Massachusetts from September 3–14, 2025. One of his paintings is also currently featured in the show Recent Acquisitions at the Cape Cod Museum of Art until July 23, 2025.

The automotive industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and innovations being introduced every year. One such innovation that has been gaining traction in recent years is self-driving cars. These autonomous vehicles have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about transportation and could have a profound impact on society as a whole.

Self-driving cars, also known as autonomous vehicles, are vehicles that are capable of navigating and operating without human intervention. They use a combination of sensors, cameras, radar, and artificial intelligence to detect and respond to their surroundings. This technology has the potential to make driving safer, more efficient, and more convenient for consumers.

One of the key benefits of self-driving cars is their potential to reduce accidents on the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, human error is a factor in 94% of all traffic accidents. By removing human drivers from the equation, self-driving cars have the potential to significantly reduce the number of accidents on the road. This could have a profound impact on public safety and could save thousands of lives each year.

In addition to safety benefits, self-driving cars also have the potential to make transportation more efficient. Autonomous vehicles are capable of communicating with each other and with traffic infrastructure, which can help reduce traffic congestion and improve the flow of traffic on the roads. This could lead to shorter commute times, reduced fuel consumption, and lower emissions, which would have a positive impact on the environment.

Self-driving cars also have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about car ownership. With the rise of ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft, many consumers are already moving away from traditional car ownership models. Autonomous vehicles could further accelerate this trend by making it more convenient and cost-effective to use ride-sharing services instead of owning a car. This could have a profound impact on the automotive industry and could lead to new business models and revenue streams for manufacturers.

Despite the potential benefits of self-driving cars, there are still many challenges that need to be overcome before they can become mainstream. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles. Manufacturers will need to rigorously test and validate their technology to ensure that it is safe for consumers to use on the road.

Regulatory hurdles also pose a challenge for the widespread adoption of self-driving cars. Many countries have strict regulations governing the use of autonomous vehicles, and manufacturers will need to work closely with regulators to ensure that their technology complies with these regulations.

Overall, self-driving cars have the potential to revolutionize the way we think about transportation. With the potential to improve safety, efficiency, and convenience, autonomous vehicles could have a profound impact on society as a whole. While there are still many challenges to overcome, the future of self-driving cars looks bright, and we can expect to see more and more autonomous vehicles on the road in the coming years.
