Mo Amer has officially announced the release of his third Netflix comedy special, titled “Wild World.” This eagerly awaited show is set to premiere on the platform on October 28.
Netflix describes this special as a “timely and fiercely honest hour” in which the comedian dives deep into his Palestinian roots, shares heartfelt moments surrounding the birth of his son, and humorously critiques the TSA.
In addition to his stand-up success, Amer is the visionary co-creator and star of the Netflix series “Mo,” which debuted in 2022. This semi-autobiographical sitcom portrays his experiences as a Palestinian refugee in Texas, encompassing both the struggles and triumphs of his journey.
Prior to “Wild World,” Amer showcased his comedic prowess with the Netflix special “The Vagabond” in 2018 and the 2021 hour titled “Mohammed in Texas.” Earlier this year, he also went on a comedy tour named “El Oso Palestino,” which translates to “The Palestinian Bear” in Spanish.
Throughout his career, Amer has found support from notable figures, including Dave Chappelle, who brought him on tour in 2015. During the pandemic, Amer performed at Chappelle’s COVID-bubble comedy club in Ohio, further solidifying their friendship. In June, Chappelle participated in a rare Variety interview, joining Amer in an Actors on Actors conversation where they discussed the intersection of political comedy and their respective works, including “Saturday Night Live” and “Mo.”
Beyond stand-up, Amer has made a mark on television with a role in Ramy Youssef’s Hulu show “Ramy,” and he appeared in the 2022 DC Comics movie “Black Adam,” which starred Dwayne Johnson.
“Mo Amer: Wild World” is directed by Amer himself and is produced by Mike Bertolina and Mustafa Abuelhija. The special is backed by All Things Comedy, the production company known for its dedication to delivering original comedic content.
