Veteran fast bowler Mohammad Shami took to social media on June 10 to share a heartwarming video of himself playing cricket with his family. The 34-year-old, who recently wrapped up his stint with SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2025, seemed to be enjoying some quality time with his loved ones as they engaged in a friendly game of backyard cricket.

In the video posted on Instagram, Shami can be seen showcasing his cricketing skills while bonding with family and friends. The caption accompanying the post read, “A day well spent on the field with family,” highlighting the joy and relaxation that comes from spending time with loved ones.

Shami’s performance in the IPL 2025 season for SunRisers Hyderabad was not up to his usual standards. Despite being acquired for a hefty sum of INR 10 crore, the seasoned pacer struggled to make an impact on the field. In nine matches, he could only manage to pick up six wickets at an average of 56.16, with an expensive economy rate of 11.23.

Unfortunately, Hyderabad failed to make it to the playoffs this season, finishing sixth on the points table under the captaincy of Pat Cummins. This was a significant downturn from their runner-up finish in the previous season, highlighting the challenges they faced in the highly competitive tournament.

Moreover, Shami faced another setback when he was left out of India’s squad for the upcoming Test series against England, starting on June 20. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced an 18-member squad for the series, with Shami notably missing from the lineup. Selection Committee chairman Ajit Agarkar explained that Shami had suffered a setback and was ruled out due to fitness concerns, as he was not deemed fit enough to play five Tests.

Despite this setback, Shami has had an impressive career representing India in 64 Test matches, where he has taken 229 wickets at an average of 27.71, including six five-wicket hauls. His absence will be felt in the upcoming series, but it provides an opportunity for other players to step up and fill the void left by the experienced pacer.

In conclusion, Mohammad Shami’s recent video showcasing his love for the game and family time serves as a reminder of the importance of balance and relaxation in the hectic world of professional cricket. While facing challenges on the field, Shami continues to find joy in the simple pleasures of life, embodying the spirit of resilience and positivity in the face of adversity.
