The mother of Joshua Jahn — the individual who executed two migrants during a shooting incident at a Dallas immigration office — had previously expressed her anti-gun sentiments on Facebook, criticizing Republican politicians.
Sharon Jahn directed her anger towards Texas Governor Greg Abbott along with GOP senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, addressing their backing of the Second Amendment in posts that have resurfaced from May 2022.
In a Facebook post dated May 25, 2022, she questioned, “Governor Abbott, Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz, how do you feel knowing that your decisions to liberalize gun laws are linked to the deaths of 21 more people?” She stated.
“Do you secretly revel in front of your television, smiling a twisted smile? You must take pride in the funds that accumulate in your bank account thanks to support from the gun lobby. Was it all worth it, Governor Abbott? How about you, senators?” she continued, incensed.
“Here’s my wish: May you remember those lives lost every time you spend that precious ‘blood money’ you’ve accepted from the gun lobby. I hope it weighs on your conscience 100% when you go to the upcoming NRA meeting.”
“Senator Cornyn, I see you suddenly found another engagement in D.C. that prevents you from attending. It’s unfortunate you lack the backbone to confront the NRA and acknowledge the real reason for your absence. You’re a coward, plain and simple.”
Her emotional outburst highlighted her frustration with governmental shortcomings and the seeming greed of officials.

Later that same day, she took aim at Abbott again, inquiring whether he takes pride in his NRA score.
Two days later, she shared lyrics from Jacques Brel’s poignant 1956 song “If We Only Have Love.”
“If only we have love, we can dissolve all the guns. And grant a new future. To our sons and daughters,” she wrote in a Facebook entry on May 27, 2022.
On the day of the incident, Joshua Jahn reportedly shot dead two individuals and gravely injured at least one other at an Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in Dallas early Wednesday morning, according to law enforcement officials.
The victims were identified as migrant detainees, and it was confirmed that no law enforcement personnel were harmed. Reports indicate that Jahn fired from the rooftop of a nearby building at an unmarked transport van conveying the migrants to a temporary ICE facility.
According to authorities, Jahn took his own life as the police were closing in. The phrase “ANTI-ICE” was found scrawled on unspent shell casings located near his remains, officials revealed.
