The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Chase McWhorter recently stirred the pot in the MomTok community following a kiss with Jessi Draper, a costar of his ex-wife Miranda Hope.
On Saturday, March 28, Chase, 30, posted a playful video on Instagram featuring ZoHendrix’s song “Seasons,” where he gazes at his hands as the lyrics “I’ve got the magic in me” play. The Mormon Wives personality captioned it with, “IYKYK [if you know, you know].”
Not everyone appreciated his attempt to make light of the situation. His former partner Layla Taylor commented, “girl shut your mouth.”
Additionally, The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s Bronwyn Newport was unimpressed, warning, “Boy, you better stop playing with those girls I love before I bring myself down past point of the mountain.”
Us Weekly reported exclusively on Thursday, March 26, that Chase and Jessi shared a kiss at a party. (Jessi is in the midst of a contentious divorce from Jordan Ngatikaura.)
“They were enjoying themselves at a party, and it’s not serious between them,” an insider shared with Us.
Miranda and Chase were married from 2017 to 2024 and have two children, a son Brooks, 6, and a daughter Cohen, 4. Chase later briefly dated fellow Mormon Wives star Layla.
Following the revelation, Miranda, 27, disclosed that she received flowers from Jessi, 33, which appeared to be a gesture of peace.
In a note, Jessi expressed, “I completely understand you being upset with me. But wanted to send you a little something to let you know I’m thinking about you and I am so so sorry.”
Miranda issued a statement to Entertainment Tonight on Thursday, clarifying her stance. She acknowledged knowing there was “communication between Chase and Jessi but not to what extent.”
“Chase informed me that they were talking and that they kissed. Jessi reached out only after she was aware Chase had told me something was happening between them,” Miranda explained.
She further stated, “What I want to make clear is that there is no emotional attachment to Chase. He is my coparent. Although I feel disrespected by Chase, I also feel slighted by my friend. Chase and I are no longer partners. While I have high expectations of him as a coparent, I also hold my friends to a high standard and believe in girl code.”
Jessi’s estranged husband Jordan, 31, also commented when Miranda invited followers to “[get ready with me] while I process my friend group being a waiting room for my ex-husband” in a TikTok video.
In a now-deleted comment, Jordan remarked, “Looks like she can’t even be faithful or loyal even in a friendship… too bad.”
Chase retorted to Jordan, saying, “Back to LinkedIn u go.”
Amid the ongoing drama in the MomTok world, Chase’s sister, Aysia McWhorter, humorously remarked that “every day there’s something new” within their circle.
“[Jessi’s] type is my brother? First question, how has he pulled all of the Mormon Wives?” Aysia playfully questioned. “Why are they all in line for him? I love you Chase, but it’s getting a little bit hard to defend you.”
She added in a caption, “Utah can’t be this small @chase! What are they feeding you?”
