Serene Francie Rosenberg, the president of a California mortgage lender, is facing serious charges after a tragic accident in Dana Point. The incident occurred when Rosenberg, allegedly under the influence, ran a red light in her Land Rover and collided with a Ford Transit van. The impact was so severe that an 88-year-old passenger in the van, Melvin Joseph Weibel, tragically lost his life. The driver of the van sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened when Rosenberg made a left turn against a red arrow signal, directly into the path of the oncoming van. She was arrested on suspicion of murder and driving under the influence at the scene and is currently in custody at the Orange County Jail. Shockingly, it was revealed that Rosenberg had three prior convictions before this fatal incident.

In the wake of the tragedy, OCMBC’s LoanStream Mortgage, where Rosenberg served as president since 2019, took swift action. She was placed on administrative leave and subsequently replaced by John Hamel, the former Chief Capital Markets Officer at LoanStream. The company expressed deep sympathy for all those affected by the accident and assured that they would handle the situation with care and responsibility, in line with their core values.

OCMBC, founded by Rabi Aziz in 1992, operates in 47 states across the US. The company issued a statement extending condolences to the victims and their families and pledged to closely monitor the situation. They encouraged anyone with information about the collision to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Traffic Bureau or provide anonymous tips through Orange County Crime Stoppers.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence and the devastating consequences it can have. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Melvin Joseph Weibel, and we hope that justice will be served in this case.
