Motorola is gradually emerging as a strong contender in the smartphone industry, posing a significant challenge to competitors like Samsung.
Although well-established and recognized, the Lenovo-owned company appears to be embracing a more confident and dynamic approach recently.
Motorola was once renowned for producing reliable, affordable phones, making it a go-to choice for budget-conscious consumers. The Moto G series frequently topped budget phone lists during that period.
Recently, however, Motorola has broadened its focus. While it continues to offer robust Moto G phones, it has also consistently delivered high-quality mid-range and flagship models.

The Motorola Signature has quickly become a standout flagship phone in 2026, combining a sleek, stylish design with impressive camera capabilities, all while being more affordable than both the iPhone Air and the older Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge.
The Motorola Razr Fold builds on this success by offering one of the most engaging foldable designs available. While not as thin as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, its everyday usability makes it appealing.
Motorola has chosen to follow its own design philosophy rather than mimic iPhone-like aesthetics, opting for warm, natural materials, curved edges, and Pantone-approved colors.
Motorola’s phones stand out with a unique identity that many competitors lack. The company is also venturing into accessories, wearables, and audio products, even if not all are endorsed by Tech Advisor.
Sticking like a magnet
Motorola is poised to continue challenging the industry in other areas as well.
The Motorola Edge 70 Max has surfaced in the Wireless Power Consortium certification database, hinting at its upcoming release. The WPC is responsible for setting new wireless charging standards, and a listing here serves as strong evidence of a new phone’s development.
The listing reveals that the Motorola Edge 70 Max will support Qi2 charging, including the advanced 25W Qi 2.2 standard.

Magnetic wireless charging has long been a favored feature of iPhones, commonly referred to as MagSafe, and only the Google Pixel 10 series has incorporated it among Android devices.
Samsung chose not to include Qi2 support in its Galaxy S26 series, opting for a partial Qi2 case solution, while companies like Xiaomi, Oppo, and Honor have also overlooked this feature.
Motorola continues to expand its impressive smartphone lineup, with indications pointing to further advancements as we approach 2027, posing a challenge to an otherwise stagnant market.
