When it comes to perfecting the travel wardrobe, it’s no wonder that our style-savvy insiders are also adept at packing. In My Packing Style, we engage with some of the most seasoned travelers we know to get an inside look at their luggage and vacation ensembles, discovering how they maintain their flair while on the move. You’ve noted the destination, you’ve saved the outfits; now, let’s explore how it all comes together.
At its core, the charm of French girl style lies in its effortless elegance: the concept of a few high-quality staples that can be mixed and matched with ease, exuding sophistication with merely a swipe of lipstick. This is also the reason such a style is travel-friendly. Clara Cornet, the EMEA fashion partnerships manager for Instagram and a true Parisian, embodies this notion—her travel wardrobe is the epitome of refined minimalism. With Paris Fashion Week currently captivating the fashion world and jet-setters descending upon the city, who better than her to shed light on what a travel capsule version of this iconic style captures?
“I approach packing with practicality and pragmatism,” Cornet explains. She gravitates towards essential pieces that can serve multiple purposes (and styles), irrespective of where she’s heading. This includes ultra-soft wool trousers that transition seamlessly from the plane to business meetings; chic Chanel slingbacks alongside Ray-Ban Wayfarers to complete the look; and, naturally, a healthy assortment of striped garments, both pinstripe and Breton.

Recently, she returned from a getaway to Arles, located in the picturesque South of France, where she tested her packing strategies while biking through the city and enjoying exhibitions at the photography festival. Naturally, we had to dig deeper. Below, Cornet shares insights about her travel style, favorite brands for vacations, and that indispensable wardrobe staple you’ll always find in her bag.
Are you someone who packs in advance or do you prefer to throw things in last-minute?
I absolutely enjoy packing well in advance; it’s a bit of an obsession for me. I could have my suitcase ready a full week prior to a trip. This approach keeps me calm and allows me to immerse myself in travel plans and activities!
Do you tend to pack complete outfits?
I admire those who manage to pack entire outfits ahead of time. I wish I was one of them, but I don’t have that skill. Instead, I choose highly versatile pieces that I can mix and match, allowing me to create various looks and layer according to any weather conditions.
