Myha’la Herrold Talks Wardrobe and Musical Theater
When it comes to crafting a character, every detail counts. For Myha’la Herrold, star of the hit show “Industry,” costume designer Laura K. Smith played a crucial role in bringing her character Harper to life. This season, great care was taken in creating a wardrobe that reflects Harper’s new status, including a custom-designed power suit.
The first shot of the season features Harper in a gray three-piece suit, specially made by Laura for the character. According to Myha’la, Laura wanted this suit to be the hero piece in Harper’s closet, versatile enough for mixing and matching throughout the season.

Her love for musicals is a lifelong passion, with a dream Broadway role that she can’t wait to tackle. “I’m manifesting,” says Myha’la. “My favorite genre is musical theater. If anyone is looking for a five-foot-one, available, Black baddie who lives in New York, cast me!”
