Cold Weather Inspires N.Hoolywood’s Fall Collection
As temperatures drop, designers around the world are finding inspiration in the chilly air this fall season. Daisuke Obana, reporting from Tokyo, shares that the cold weather in Japan has been particularly harsh. However, it was his earlier journey to Greenland, Finland, and Iceland that truly influenced the latest N.Hoolywood Compile collection. The designer describes his experience up north as offering a quiet and gentle kind of inspiration, evident in the snow-covered models, faux fur collars, and spliced sweaters that combine cable knits with Nordic patterns.
While the initial inspiration may have been cold, the collection quickly transitions to a cool and urban aesthetic. Obana notes that his travels revealed a surprising urban and contemporary vibe in Greenland and Iceland, rather than the expected historical and indigenous presence. This shift is reflected in the collection, which is designed for the streets rather than the slopes.
One standout element of the collection is the brand’s denim pieces, known for their deep dye and sturdy material. Denim is a staple in modern wardrobes, and N.Hoolywood’s jeans are sure to be hero pieces this season. Additionally, corduroy takes center stage in look 16, with a horizontal orientation that subtly pays homage to Eddie Bauer’s iconic ‘All Purpose’ down blouson.
Obana’s exploration of cold weather dressing results in a unique silhouette that is both historic and contemporary. The collection’s designs, inspired by the designer’s travels and experiences, capture a sense of adventure and urban sophistication. Bumble, the Abominable Snowmonster of the North, would surely approve of N.Hoolywood’s latest offerings.
