A retired detective from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office suspects that Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping was a calculated act involving “two to four accomplices,” as reported.
Kurt Dabb, who collaborated with the agency now spearheading the search for the missing 84-year-old woman, told Parade that such a high-profile abduction would likely require more participants than just the single masked and armed individual shown on her doorbell camera the night she disappeared.
“I believe there are anywhere between two to four accomplices,” he mentioned when questioned about whether the suspect seen on camera acted alone.
“The logistics of something of this magnitude is too much for one person to handle in my professional opinion based on the facts as I know them right now,” he added.
“It’s more than likely the home was canvassed prior, either by the kidnapper himself or an accomplice,” he continued. “Whether or not they knew a camera was there was a culmination of their reconnoiter.”
Dabb concurs with other law enforcement experts that Guthrie’s disappearance was not a result of a failed robbery but a deliberate kidnapping, as indicated by the footage from the front door camera.
“Burglars don’t go to burglarize a house with a full backpack. This was a kidnapping,” he stated.
The timeline of the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mom:
