National Consumer Protection Week Proclamation
Consumer rights are a vital component of American society, serving as a pillar of freedom, a driving force of the economy, and a key element of success. As we observe National Consumer Protection Week, it is crucial to reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding the rights of American consumers, promoting transparency, and fostering a thriving economy.
Ensuring the protection of Americans’ personal information, financial transactions, and data privacy is essential for their participation in the dynamic marketplace and safeguarding against potential fraud and cybersecurity threats.
In line with the goal of protecting consumer rights and bolstering America’s position in the global digital landscape, significant steps have been taken to combat regulatory barriers hindering the growth of cryptocurrency. Additionally, efforts have been made to enhance transparency in prescription drug pricing through the implementation of an Executive Order aimed at providing accurate information in drug advertisements.
As we commemorate National Consumer Protection Week, collaboration between local and Federal agencies, as well as consumer organizations, plays a pivotal role in equipping Americans with resources, guides, and knowledge to combat privacy and financial risks. An informed and protected consumer base is fundamental to a healthy economy, and the government remains steadfast in its commitment to upholding consumer rights.
Therefore, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States, hereby proclaim March 2 through March 8, 2025, as National Consumer Protection Week. I urge all Americans to make use of the wealth of online resources provided by the Federal Trade Commission and engage in consumer education initiatives in their communities.
Signed,
DONALD J. TRUMP
