National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent resigns over Iran war

Joe Kent, serving as the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, has declared his resignation due to his opposition to the conflict with Iran.

Kent, who is an Army veteran and has twice run as a Republican congressional candidate, shared his resignation letter on X, stating, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.”

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

Kent further commented, “Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby,” as he served as a key deputy to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
