BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

A PROCLAMATION

One year ago, I stood in the iconic rotunda of our Nation’s Capitol, making a commitment to the American people: to reclaim our national sovereignty, enhance our safety, restore justice, and rebuild a nation that embodies pride, prosperity, and freedom. Over the past 12 months, my Administration has acted decisively to fulfill these promises, marking the dawn of a new era characterized by peace, prosperity, and strength. Today, on this National Day of Patriotic Devotion, we come together to celebrate our cherished American ideals, acknowledge our achievements, and reaffirm our commitment to elevate our country to unprecedented heights.

Upon my inauguration a year ago, our nation faced significant turmoil. Our borders were alarmingly porous, leading to an influx of criminals, drug traffickers, and violent gangs that endangered our communities. Crime rates surged, law enforcement struggled, and various groups, including Christians and conservatives, faced unjust persecution. Inflation burdened families, wage growth stagnated, and living costs spiraled out of control. American democracy suffered from rampant lawlessness and governmental overreach, and we witnessed an erosion of accountability at the highest levels of our governance. The integrity of women’s sports was compromised, and extremist ideologies infiltrated our education system. Additionally, disastrous trade agreements had decimated American industries, while our global standing was undermined by ineffective leadership.

From day one, I dedicated myself to championing the law-abiding, hardworking individuals who built and sustain our great Nation.

One of my foremost responsibilities was to tackle the unprecedented border crisis. Shortly after my inauguration, I declared a national emergency at the southern border, labeled cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations, resumed construction of the border wall, reinstated the Remain in Mexico policy, ended catch-and-release practices, curtailed asylum for illegal entrants, deployed thousands of American troops to secure our borders, and initiated the largest deportation effort in American history.

In just a few months, we transformed a dire border crisis into the most secure border ever recorded. The surge of illegal crossings has dramatically decreased by 92%, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection has intercepted over half a million pounds of illicit drugs.

My Administration has also prioritized economic rebuilding. On my first day, I signed a Presidential Memorandum aimed at providing immediate price relief for families, directing federal agencies to lift regulatory burdens and restore economic vitality. I advanced efforts to reclaim American energy dominance, resulting in historically low gas and electricity prices. Consequently, inflation has decreased by 70% from its peak during the previous administration; the affordability gap is shrinking, real wages are on the rise, and housing costs are declining.

Furthermore, we have revitalized American manufacturing, dismantling policies that forced our workers into unfair competition with foreign entities exploiting our markets. We have secured significant investments, bolstered infrastructure, and fostered technological advancements that strengthen our supply chains and protect American innovation, ensuring that the future is crafted by American hands and driven by American values.

Within six months of my term, we enacted the One Big Beautiful Bill—an unparalleled legislative success that solidified the largest tax cuts in history, eliminated taxes on tips, Social Security, and overtime, increased the child tax credit, invested in infrastructure, reduced energy costs, and permanently secured our borders.

On the global stage, I have swiftly reasserted American strength. Upon my return to office, I signed an Executive Order directing the Secretary of State to align all policies and operations with the interests of the American people. I have revitalized our military, ensuring it remains the most formidable force in the world. Guided by a foreign policy of peace through strength, my Administration has brokered significant peace agreements in areas long torn by conflict, including the Middle East, and we are committed to pursuing peaceful resolutions that prioritize American interests and foster stability and prosperity both domestically and internationally. The resilience of the American spirit is being restored, and our journey is just beginning.

As President, I have tirelessly worked to renew the foundational American values that unite us as one Nation under God: equal justice, freedom of speech, meritocracy over divisive agendas, and respect for our heritage, history, and heroes. My Administration has put an end to the era of governmental weaponization, fortified our electoral integrity, and reaffirmed that the law applies equally to all citizens. Most crucially, we are revitalizing our civic culture, where children are once again taught to take pride in their country and honor our beloved American flag.

January 20, 2025, will be remembered as the day our Nation was restored to its full grandeur. America will never again relinquish its sovereignty, silence its citizens, apologize for its strength, or suppress the rights and potential of its people. On this National Day of Patriotic Devotion, as we commemorate our Nation’s 250th anniversary, we stand revitalized, determined, and fearless, embodying the same audacious spirit of July 4, 1776, that forged our Republic and will safeguard our future for generations to come.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim January 20, 2026, as National Day of Patriotic Devotion, to strengthen our bonds with each other and our country, and to renew the responsibilities of Government to its people.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of January, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-six, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and fiftieth.
