A tragic incident occurred in Pennsylvania on Thursday morning when a 22-year-old National Guardsman, identified as Austin Golab, lost his life in a multi-vehicle crash during whiteout weather conditions. Golab, who was on his way back to college, was the sole victim in the three-vehicle collision.
The Pennsylvania State Police reported that the crash occurred on Interstate 79 south in Mercer County. A semi-trailer had come to a stop in the right lane, resulting in another big rig colliding with it from behind. Subsequently, Golab’s car also collided with the second semi that had stopped in the left lane.
Tragically, Golab was pronounced dead at the scene due to blunt force trauma to the head and chest from the injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the second semi-trailer was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Before the fatal accident, Golab had been deployed to Kenya with the National Guard. He was known for his kind and friendly nature, and his family described him as a cherished individual who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
As the East Coast braces for severe winter weather conditions, it is essential for drivers to exercise caution on the roads to prevent accidents like the one that claimed Golab’s life. Let us all remember Austin Golab and the impact he had on those around him.
