The National Trust for Local News Sells 21 Colorado Publications to Times Media Group
The National Trust for Local News announced on Tuesday that it has sold 21 of its Colorado publications to Times Media Group, a community news publisher based in Tempe, Ariz.
The publications being sold cover communities along the Front Range and include well-known titles such as the Arvada Press, Englewood Herald, and Jeffco Transcript.
The deal is set to close on Wednesday, with the trust retaining ownership of seven publications, including the Brighton Standard-Blade, Fort Lupton Press, and Golden Transcript, which will now be part of the Colorado Trust for Local News, a subsidiary of the National Trust.
Times Media Group, known for operating over 60 publications in Arizona and California, will now expand its reach into the Colorado market through this strategic partnership.
Will Nelligan, Chief Growth Officer at the National Trust for Local News, expressed optimism about the deal, stating that it sets the stage for a more resilient and vibrant media ecosystem in the state.
Founded in 2021, the National Trust for Local News also operates the Trust Press, a commercial printing facility in Colorado.
The majority of Colorado Community Media’s employees have been offered positions with Times Media Group, ensuring a smooth transition for the affected staff.
In addition to the recent sale, Colorado Community Media has announced the closure of the “Washington Park Profile” and “Life on Capitol Hill,” two Denver newspapers.
