NBC has recently greenlit a pilot for a new single-camera comedy series titled “Stumble.” The show is a mockumentary that delves into the competitive world of junior college cheerleading, highlighting the absurdly high stakes involved in the sport. Originally conceptualized with a put pilot commitment at NBC back in late 2024, “Stumble” is now moving forward with a pilot order.
The pilot for “Stumble” is being written and executive produced by sibling duo Jeff Astrof and Liz Astrof. Dana Honor is also on board as an executive producer through Defining Eve Productions, with renowned cheerleading coach Monica Aldama serving as an additional executive producer. The project is being produced under Universal Television.
Both Jeff and Liz Astrof boast extensive experience in the comedy realm, with a long list of writing and producing credits to their names. This collaboration marks the first time the siblings have joined forces to create a television series. Jeff Astrof is known for creating the Starz series “Shining Vale” and co-creating the NBC mockumentary series “Trial & Error,” in addition to working on shows like “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Grounded for Life,” and “Friends.”
Meanwhile, Liz Astrof has recently contributed to the ABC comedy “Not Dead Yet” and served as a consulting producer on “Shining Vale” and “Trial & Error.” She previously created the Fox comedy series “Pivoting” and has writing credits on popular shows like “2 Broke Girls,” “King of Queens,” and “Raising Hope.”
The Astrof siblings and Aldama are represented by CAA, highlighting the strong creative team behind “Stumble.” This pilot pickup adds to NBC’s comedy lineup, with another single-camera comedy starring Tracy Morgan in the works. The upcoming series, created by Robert Carlock, Sam Means, and Tina Fey, will feature Daniel Radcliffe alongside Morgan, as reported by Variety.
With an exciting premise and a talented team at the helm, “Stumble” promises to bring a fresh and hilarious take on the world of junior college cheerleading. Stay tuned for more updates on this upcoming comedy series as it progresses through production.
