Netflix has decided to pull the plug on the Arnold Schwarzenegger series “Fubar” after two seasons, as confirmed by Variety. The show initially gained popularity during its first season in 2023 but failed to maintain the same level of success in its second season, which premiered over two years later on June 12. Despite making it to Nielsen’s streaming originals top 10 for the week of June 16 following its premiere, the series quickly dropped off the chart the following week.
The premise of the show revolved around Luke Brunner, a seasoned CIA operative who was on the brink of retirement until a mission to save his daughter, who also happened to be a fellow operative, thrust him back into action. Facing off against new adversaries, including an old flame from his past, Luke must prevent global destruction while safeguarding his own life.
The cast of “Fubar” includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson.
The series was created, showrun, and executive produced by Nick Santora, with additional executive producers including Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell from Skydance. Season 2 of “Fubar” was produced by Skydance Television.
While “Fubar” may not have secured a renewal, Netflix has recently announced the renewals of several other scripted series, including “Wednesday,” “Untamed,” “Tires,” “Ransom Canyon,” “Virgin River,” “Bridgerton” (for two seasons), “Forever,” “Four Seasons,” “The Diplomat,” “My Life with the Walter Boys,” “Survival of the Thickest,” “Geek Girl,” “Lincoln Lawyer,” “Sweet Magnolias,” “Devil May Cry,” “Beauty in Black,” “Nobody Wants This,” “A Man on the Inside,” and “The Vince Staples Show.”
It’s always disappointing when a fan-favorite series comes to an end, but Netflix continues to churn out compelling content for viewers to enjoy.
