Netflix is set to release a new feature documentary about Lucy Letby, the British neonatal nurse who was convicted of murdering seven babies under her care. Titled “The Investigation of Lucy Letby,” the 90-minute documentary will premiere globally on Feb. 4 and will offer viewers new materials and testimony from the British police who investigated the case. It will also include never-before-seen footage of Letby during her arrest and questioning.
The documentary will feature an interview with the mother of one of the victims, marking the first time a family member involved in the prosecution has spoken out publicly. Additionally, experts and lawyers from both sides of the case will provide their insights and perspectives.
Letby, who is now 36 years old, was found guilty of murdering seven infants between June 2015 and June 2016, as well as the attempted murders of seven others. She was sentenced to life imprisonment with a whole life order, meaning she will spend the rest of her life in prison. In July 2024, Letby was retried and found guilty of an attempted murder charge that the jury had previously failed to reach a verdict on.
“The Investigation of Lucy Letby” is produced by ITN Productions and directed by Dominic Sivyer. The executive producers of the documentary are Caroline Short and Ian Rumsey.
The case of Lucy Letby has both gripped and divided the U.K., with some expressing doubt over the medical and statistical evidence that led to her conviction. The documentary aims to provide a comprehensive look at the case and shed light on the various perspectives surrounding it.
