Netflix has recently provided a sneak peek of its upcoming limited series based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, “Pride and Prejudice,” as production kicks off in the U.K. The star-studded cast includes Rufus Sewell as Mr. Bennet, Freya Mavor as Jane Bennet, Jamie Demetriou as Mr. Collins, Daryl McCormack as Mr. Bingley, Louis Partridge as Mr. Wickham, Rhea Norwood as Lydia Bennet, Siena Kelly as Caroline Bingley, and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine de Bourg. Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery will also make their debuts as Mary Bennet and Kitty Bennet.
Joining the ensemble are Anjana Vasan, Sebastian Armesto, Rosie Cavaliero, Saffron Coomber, James Dryden, Justin Edwards, James Northcote, Eloise Webb, and Isabella Sermon. They will be working alongside previously announced leads Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman, who portray Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and Mrs. Bennet, respectively.
The six-part limited series, helmed by director Euros Lyn and screenwriter Dolly Alderton, aims to stay true to Austen’s timeless tale of love and social class. Alderton expressed her excitement about the project, stating, “Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is the blueprint for romantic comedy – it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to find both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life.”
Executive producers for the series include Corrin, Laura Lankester, Dolly Alderton, Lyn, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point, with Lisa Osborne serving as producer. The adaptation promises to offer a mix of the familiar and the new, breathing fresh life into this beloved literary classic.
