Netflix Expands Korean Content with Exciting New Releases

The recent APAC showcase in Tokyo highlighted Netflix’s ambitious strategy for Korean content, with a special focus on their upcoming slate of films. One of the most anticipated releases is “Lost in Starlight,” Netflix’s first Korean animated feature set to premiere in Q2. This marks a significant milestone in Netflix’s efforts to expand its Korean content offerings following the success of hits like “Revelations.”

Vincent Taewon Kim, Netflix Korea’s director of content, emphasized the company’s commitment to diversifying genres and enhancing the quality of their content. The 2025 slate includes seven films spanning animation, romance, thriller, sci-fi, and action genres.

Director Han Ji-won shared insights into the five-year journey behind “Lost in Starlight,” a film that explores the emotional journey of an astronaut and a musician. Han’s vision for the film combines elements of space exploration and love, creating a unique and captivating story. The film features voice performances from Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung.

In addition to “Lost in Starlight,” directors Kim Tae-joon and Namkoong Sun discussed their upcoming releases. Kim’s “Wall to Wall” delves into housing anxieties in Korean society, while Namkoong’s “Love Untangled” offers a refreshing youth romance set in 1998 Busan. Both films promise to provide engaging narratives and stellar performances from top Korean actors.

Looking ahead, Netflix teased three more films closing out 2025: “Mantis,” a spinoff from the popular “Kill Boksoon”; “Good News,” a 1970s hijacking drama; and “Great Flood,” a sci-fi disaster blockbuster. These diverse offerings showcase Netflix’s commitment to delivering compelling content to global audiences.
