The FBI is reportedly contemplating an ostentatious arrest of James Comey, the former director of the bureau.

According to a Reuters report from Friday, an FBI agent has been terminated for his refusal to orchestrate Comey’s “perp walk”—a spectacle that includes an arrest in view of the media.

The Reuters piece notes: “An FBI agent was relieved of duty for declining to arrange a ‘perp walk’ for the bureau’s former director, James Comey, following federal charges last month, according to four sources familiar with the situation.”

MSNBC corroborated this information, revealing that the FBI indeed dismissed an agent for declining to assist in Comey’s planned arrest, further stoking the flames of media scrutiny.

In a fiery rebuttal, FBI Director Kash Patel disparaged MSNBC, defending the firings of personnel who neglect to adhere to the chain of command.

Comey is set to appear in court on October 9, with his case assigned to US District Judge Michael Nachmanoff, who was appointed by President Biden.

Per CBS News, the FBI is deliberating a dramatic arrest involving “large, robust” agents donned in Kevlar vests right before his arraignment.

“The FBI is actively crafting a plan to arrest Comey ahead of his court date on Thursday, but several supervisors have also resisted participation,” stated a source engaged in discussions about the situation. “It’s anticipated they will locate willing agents eventually,” reported CBS News.

As noted in an excerpt from CBS News:

The FBI is considering executing a “showy” arrest and subsequent perp walk of the agency’s indicted ex-Director James Comey and has already suspended an agent who declined to participate, according to three sources familiar with the matter.

On the day of his indictment, FBI leadership allegedly contemplated apprehending Comey instead of waiting for him to voluntarily appear in court, as a source briefed on the discussions revealed.

The leadership purportedly requested “large, robust” agents for Comey’s arrest, equipped in full tactical gear, including Kevlar vests and exterior wear labeled with the FBI insignia. It was suggested that a supervisory special agent from the violent crimes division of the FBI’s Washington Field Office could organize such a unit, the source added.

However, the aforementioned agent refused to engage in this plan, considering it highly unusual for a white-collar defendant like Comey. Consequently, he was suspended for insubordination.

Last week, Comey was indicted on two charges by a grand jury in the Eastern District of Virginia: false statements and obstruction of justice.

In a sourced video posted on Instagram, Comey remarked, “My family and I have accepted that there are repercussions for confronting Donald Trump. Yet, we couldn’t envision living any differently.”

“We refuse to live on our knees, and neither should you,” he continued, adding, “I am disheartened for the Department of Justice, but I have unwavering faith in the federal judicial system. I am innocent, so let’s proceed to trial.”
