The NYPD has released footage of two masked gunmen suspected in a shooting incident that left six teenagers injured outside a Sweet 16 birthday party in Brooklyn. The incident occurred outside Burbuja Events in Cypress Hills in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The suspects, one of whom was wearing a red and blue du-rag under his black hoodie, were captured on camera chatting while walking along the rain-soaked sidewalk. The shooting resulted in three 15-year-olds sustaining injuries, with one girl suffering wounds to the chest, hip, and leg, another girl wounded in the leg, and a boy shot in the arm. Additionally, a 16-year-old boy was shot in the arm, another 16-year-old boy in the foot, and a 17-year-old boy in the thigh.
All six victims were taken to hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that the motive for the shooting is still unknown but appears to be gang-related. Sources suggest that the incident may have been sparked by a dispute over a girl.
It is unclear whether all the victims were specifically targeted or if any were bystanders caught in the crossfire. The shooting took place outside the catering hall approximately 20 minutes after the party ended. The management of Burbuja Events is fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspects to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline. Tips can be submitted anonymously online as well. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation, and law enforcement officials are working diligently to apprehend the suspects responsible for the violent incident.
