NHL Network recently unveiled its list of the Top 20 Defensemen currently playing in the NHL, with Quinn Hughes of the Vancouver Canucks securing the second spot, just behind Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche. This ranking has stirred up a debate among hockey enthusiasts on various social media platforms.

Hughes clinched his first Norris Trophy last season after an outstanding performance, where he notched 17 goals and 75 assists, totaling an impressive 92 points. This remarkable feat propelled him from his previous #10 ranking to the coveted #2 position on the current list.

However, not all fans are in agreement with this ranking. One fan expressed their surprise, stating, “Surprised he’s not lower. #9 on this list Evan Bouchard outplayed Quinn in the playoffs.” Another fan shared their conflicting opinion, mentioning, “I disagree, but I think it’s important to note. Neither team AVS or Canucks would complain having either player. IF there is a gap. It’s not very big and both players are phenomenal.”

There were also criticisms of bias towards the NHL Network’s rankings, with one fan outrightly stating, “Another biased NHL Network posting.” Despite the mixed reactions, many Canucks supporters argue that Quinn Hughes rightfully deserves the top spot after his stellar performance leading to the Norris Trophy win last year.

Quinn Hughes and his siblings, Luke and Jack, have made history by featuring on the cover of EA Sports NHL 25, marking the first time a trio of siblings has graced the cover of an EA Sports NHL video game. Quinn expressed his excitement about this opportunity, stating, “It’s a huge honor for us to be on the cover of NHL 25 together. We all grew up playing EA Sports NHL games and never could’ve imagined we’d one day be the cover athletes. It’s a dream come true.”

With EA Play subscribers gaining early access through a 10-hour trial a week before the official release on October 4 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, fans can anticipate an exciting gaming experience featuring the Hughes brothers.

In conclusion, the NHL Network’s ranking of Quinn Hughes at #2 has sparked a diverse range of opinions among fans, highlighting the subjective nature of such lists in the world of hockey. Despite the debates and criticisms, Hughes’ undeniable talent and achievements continue to solidify his position as one of the league’s top defensemen.
