On June 10th, Hockey 24/7 published a report suggesting that discussions were underway between the San Jose Sharks and the New York Rangers about a possible trade involving Adam Fox, a second-overall draft pick, and additional assets.
The report quickly gained attention on social media; however, NHL Insider Jonny Lazarus promptly dismissed it. On the platform X, Lazarus shared Hockey 24/7’s tweet, explaining that he investigated the claim due to its popularity and confirmed it was baseless.
“I saw this had some traction, so I checked with a source to confirm it had no merit. I am confirming that this is false.”

Despite the New York Rangers not qualifying for the Stanley Cup playoffs this year, Adam Fox delivered a solid individual performance. He participated in 55 games, scoring nine goals and providing 44 assists, accumulating a total of 53 points.
The speculation about Fox’s future with the Rangers quickly became a topic of interest because he has been with the team since the start of his career, establishing himself as one of the league’s top defensemen.

“I mean, I’m just trying to focus on this year right now and play each game. That’s really all I can do right now, could control — is I was just trying to work to get back and help the team finish strong. So I think that’s where my head’s at. … I think that’s a conversation when we’re done playing games.”
Adam Fox is under a 7-year contract with the New York Rangers worth $66,500,000, set to expire at the end of the 2028-29 season.
