Superstar rapper Nicki Minaj fell victim to a “swatting” call this week, as law enforcement authorities swarmed her residence in the L.A. area on Wednesday night in response to a false report of a shooting at her house.
According to law enforcement sources, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Dept. received a call around 7 PM reporting an assault at a property in Hidden Hills, where Nicki resides.
Upon arrival, deputies found no individuals at the residence and no signs of any disturbance in the surrounding area.
The Los Angeles Times reported that an unidentified individual made a call to the sheriff’s business line, not 911, falsely claiming that a Black woman had been shot at Nicki’s address, with two people still present at the scene. The incident was later classified as swatting.
Nicki Minaj has previously been targeted in swatting incidents in August and July of 2023, where false reports were made to authorities claiming violence at her residence. In both cases, law enforcement responded to find no validity to the claims.
The perpetrator behind the swatting call on Wednesday night has not been identified.
In a tragic incident in Atlanta, a swatting call led to the death of rapper Young Scooter after he sustained a fatal injury while fleeing from law enforcement. The false report was made by a one-time reality TV contestant, who was later arrested for making a fake emergency call.
It was confirmed that Nicki and her family were not present on the West Coast during the false swatting incident.
