“Love Island USA” has claimed the title as the standout series of the summer.
Peacock reports that Season 8 of the popular reality dating show has amassed nearly 19 billion minutes of viewership. The season, which ran 35 episodes from June 2 to July 13, has become the most-watched original series on the platform. With a total runtime of almost 40 hours, this equates to approximately 7.9 million views.
According to first-party data, 30% of the viewers tuned in via phones and tablets, marking one of Peacock’s largest mobile audiences. Moreover, 35% of the audience were first-time viewers of the series, and almost half watched alongside at least one other person. “Aftersun,” the “Love Island” aftershow hosted by Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa, experienced a 135% viewership increase from the previous season.
Nielsen data reveals that “Love Island USA” Season 8 ranked as the most-watched streaming series of summer 2026 and held the top spot for streaming reality shows for six straight weeks. These rankings were based on data collected from May 25 to July 12, noting that Nielsen’s streaming data is reported with a multi-week delay.
Social media engagement for the season has been remarkable. Social Content Ratings indicate the show generated over 5 billion video views across various platforms, with TikTok alone accounting for over 2.5 billion views — a 47% increase from Season 7 and contributing to 68% of the season’s total social engagement.
The “Love Island USA” app saw an 85% rise in users and a 35% increase in voters compared to the previous season. During Season 8, both the show’s app and the Peacock app reached the No. 1 spot on the App Store.
The success in ratings precedes the upcoming reunion special on August 31, hosted by Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen on Peacock.
